About Me

Becoming a Counsellor was a step I took later in life and followed on from working at a local bereavement support charity as their administrator and first point of contact.

In the years before, I worked for a long time as an experienced legal professional practicing family law, helped run a family business as a director and supported students as a sixth form administrator.

Each of these roles gave me insight and an understanding of our diverse and unique experiences, working with people of all ages, backgrounds and identities, but it also taught me something about what it means to listen, to really hear someone, and how important it is to feel heard and understood.

When I decided to take the first initial steps of training, I didn’t start out with the intention of becoming a counsellor. I began at a time when I felt unseen, unheard, and unsure of my place in the world. I was frustrated, and if I’m honest, probably a little bit angry too. Looking back, I can see that starting the training was partly about searching for my own self-worth, a need to feel 'good enough'.

But what I connected with was something much deeper and familiar. The person-centred approach and its humanistic principles, were values I’d quietly carried within me for a long time. They reflected my inner me, the part that values kindness, understanding, authenticity, and the uniqueness of every person.

Like everyone, my life has been shaped by experiences including some deeply challenging times. Periods of change, loss, resilience, and growth have all influenced the person I am today and how I am as a Counsellor.

As a qualified counsellor, I support adults experiencing a wide range of concerns and challenges. Alongside my private practice I work as a volunteer counsellor at a local charity.

I have a nurturing and curious mind about people and how we live in the world and as a lifelong learner I am continually developing my skills and staying informed to provide the best support in my practice.
