Whatever bought you here today, I offer you a very warm welcome.
I’m Claire Hastings, a qualified Counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and this is my practice website.
There are many reasons why people seek counselling and by visiting here today, I am aware of the difficult decision it may have been for you to reach out and seek support.

Throughout our lives most of us will face challenges that can affect us such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, loss, or overwhelming emotions.
I am a person-centred counsellor, placing you at the heart of our work together, to allow you to make the changes you may decide are needed. I offer a warm, safe space to build a therapeutic relationship based on empathy, honesty, and trust.
How can I help?
I focus on meeting you where you are in life.
As you read this, perhaps you're trying to find a way through the emotional ups and downs that can come with different stages of life. This might include times of change, starting something new, facing a loss, a changing family or work-related role, or realising life doesn’t feel how you thought it would.
Anxiety and depression can surface during these times. Sometimes unfolding quietly, sometimes more intensely. You might feel unsteady, overwhelmed, or like you’ve lost part of yourself.
These times can feel really uncertain, but they also hold the opportunity for us to reflect on what might be happening, to see situations a little clearer and offer the possibility for change and growth. I offer a space where you can explore what's happening, make sense of what you’re feeling, and begin to make the changes you decide to make.
Some of the concerns that clients might bring to counselling include:-
Anger | Life Stages |
Anxiety | Parenthood |
Abuse | Midlife |
Carer support | Menopause |
Depression | Panic |
Family Issues | Stress |
Low Mood | Relationships |
Low self-esteem | Trauma |
Loss eg, relationship, job etc |
'We think we listen,
but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy.
Yet listening, of this very special kind,
is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.'
-Carl Rogers
